Diodes Company Launches Simplified Ideal Diode Simulation

     Diodes announced the launch of an ideal diode controller product to protect the system from reverse discharge. DZDH0401DW controller drives P-channel MOSFET to simulate ideal diode and provide high side rail insulation required for blocking reverse current in systems up to 40V. Its compact size and outstanding performance make it particularly suitable for cordless power tools and automatic operation of household/garden appliances (such as smart vacuum cleaners and smart lawn mowers). The device is also very suitable for other applications, including hot plug for data center servers and OR ing rectifier in N+1 standby power supply.

     By using DZDH0401DW with low on resistance MOSFETs, designers can take advantage of power consumption far lower than that of the Schottky diode solution, especially for high power applications. Increasing efficiency can reduce thermal management costs and improve system reliability. DZDH0401DW will detect the disconnection of the power input in this configuration, and then drive the MOSFET to the off state to isolate any return path and maintain the stability of the system

     This complete reverse discharge protection solution consists of a controller, a MOSFET and two resistors. Simple and delicate configuration reduces the design work to the minimum, which is an ideal solution for deployment in a space constrained design.
