Diodes AP43776 USB Type-C protocol decoder is a highly integrated dual channel USB Type-C, PD3.1/PPS/QC5 protocol decoder. It has passed the PPS and QC5 protocol certification of USB Type-C power supply specification revision 3.1 V1.1

     Diodes Inc. AP43776 USB Type-C protocol decoder is a highly integrated dual-channel USB Type-C, PD3.1/PPS/QC5 protocol decoder. It is PPS and QC5 protocol certified by USB Type-C Power Supply Specification Revision 3.1V1.1. The device supports a full range of PPS APdos (enhanced Power data Objects) from 3.3V to 21V (voltage resolution at 20mV per step) and up to 6A current (current resolution at 50mA per step) for power management. In order to support the output current above 3A, the AP43776 supports e-Marker cable detection and has built-in VCONN switch with 30mA driving capability and overcurrent protection (OCP). Cable loss compensation is also embedded.

 

     Diodes Inc. AP43776 features an embedded MCU and built-in ADC converter for voltage and temperature measurements, and is available for overheating protection (OTP) and other specific features with I2C pins and abundant GPIO pins. The AP43776 can be used as the main I2C device in conjunction with two I2C-equipped step-up controllers or converters with PD3.1 PPS output circuits. It supports two separate PD3.1 PPS charging applications, eliminating the need to enable MOS chips with additional output for each PD3.1 output port.

 

     The AP43776 has built-in firmware that supports various smart power management functions, such as power sharing between two connected USB Type-C PD devices, low battery power derating, thermal power derating, and LED indicator. It is also possible to interconnect two AP43776 devices via UART (GPIO) pins to implement a smart power sharing scheme for all four connected USB Type-C ports connected to a fixed power supply.
