Diodes Incorporated launches LED drives that meet the automotive specifications

     Diodes launched the AL5873Q Sanxin Road linear LED drive to expand the combination of the device combination that supports the external lamps of the car to simplify the design operation of the rear side lamp group. This device that meets the automotive specifications AEC-Q100 Grade 1 certification, with a rated operating environment temperature of 125 ° C, meets the requirements of the next generation of car design, and can also save energy and space and reduce the overall cost of the system.

     Each channel of Al5873Q can drive up to 250mA current and set it through two reference resistors. These two resistors are connected to the Ref1 and Ref 2 pins of the driver IC. Support two different LED currents, which can simplify the lighting system -because the same LED can be used in the taillights and brake lights of the rear lamp group. In this way, the cost of the material list (BOM) is greatly reduced.

     The AL5873Q has analog and main PWM dimming control functions and supports PWM frequencies up to 1kHz. PWM dimming function is very important to improve the current accuracy when driving LED with low current bit. The current in each channel is adjusted to a tolerance of ±4%, allowing the rear light combination to have a better channel-channel combination result. If no PWM signal is detected, the AL5873Q will go into standby mode to save power.

     The AL5873Q has built-in protection with bidirectional (input/output) fault pins that can flag any fault and allows up to four devices to connect their fault pins together to jointly communicate any faults found. In its protection function, if the specified threshold temperature is exceeded, the internal interface temperature monitoring circuit will reduce the LED current. In addition to this thermal reentry, there are thermal shut-off and LED string open/short circuit protection mechanisms, and input undervoltage locking features.

     The AL5873Q comes in a compact 16-pin TSSOP package, supports PPAP files, and is manufactured in IATF 16949 certified production facilities.
