Diodes PowerDI8080 packaged MOSFET improves the power density of modern automobile applications

     Diodes announced the launch of the innovative power package PowerDI 8080-5 with high current, high thermal efficiency and meeting the application requirements of electric vehicle (EV) products. PowerDI ® The first 8080-5 packaged product is DMTH4M70SPGWQ. Under the 10V gate drive, the typical RDS (ON) of this 40V MOSFET that meets the vehicle specifications is only 0.54m Ω, and the gate charge is 117nC. Such industry-leading efficiency enables designers of high power BLDC motor drivers, DC-DC converters and charging systems to significantly improve system efficiency, while ensuring that power consumption remains at an absolute minimum.

     The PCB area of PowerDI 8080-5 package is 64mm2, which is 40% smaller than TO263 (D2PAK) package format. It also has an outer contour of 1.7mm, which is 63% smaller than TO263. Copper clip welding between grains and terminals helps to achieve a low junction to enclosure thermal resistance of 0.36 ° C/W. Therefore, the PowerDI 8080-5 can handle current up to 460A and provide power density eight times higher than the TO263 package.

     DMTH4M70SPGWQ conforms to AEC-Q101 level specification, passes PPAP and is manufactured by IATF 16949 certified facilities. Its gull wing leads contribute to automatic optical inspection (AOI) and improve the reliability of temperature cycling.
