Diodes has launched two new high-performance USB PD3.0 Sink controller ICs, continuously strengthening its product portfolio of USB Power Delivery (PD) solutions. AP33771 and AP33772 receiver controllers are specially designed for home appliances and wireless electric tools. They can achieve appropriate voltage potential through USB-C coordination. The operating voltage range of both controllers is 3.3V to 24V.
The AP33,771 uses simple pin settings for voltage and power requirements to increase ease of use, while the AP33,772 can provide more flexibility for precision design with µ C (including I2C interface). Both devices have built-in application firmware, which can automatically coordinate with the connected USB PD3.0 compatible charger to obtain the required power level. LED light (driven by a GPIO) can clearly display the charging state and possible fault conditions.
The AP33771 has a preloaded power menu, including 8 output voltages and 10 power levels. Simply change the resistance settings to meet the power requirements of the terminal equipment. In addition, when connected to a traditional USB Type-A charger, it can provide 5V charging and support voltage drop compensation of USB Type-C to USB Type-C cables.
The I2C interface of the AP33772 enables more complex system designs by which specific power profiles can be specified and various protection functions can be used. AP33,771 and AP33,772 are packaged with 24 pin W-QFN4040. If necessary, the evaluation can be obtained through Diodes sales channel
