
Diodes' PCIe 3.0 packet switcher PI7C9X3G808GP delivers the high performance parameters required by modern data centers, cloud computing, network attached storage devices (NAS) and telecommunications infrastructure. This packet switcher supports 8-channel operation and supports 2, 3, 4, 5, and 8 port configurations. It can use cut-through and store and forward modes to support packet forwarding latency of less than 150ns (typical value).
The PI7C9X3G808GP comes in a 196-ball BGA format and is 15mm x 15mm in size. The packet switcher uses a proprietary architecture to provide greater flexibility and performance. Multiple port/channel width combinations and cross-domain endpoint (CDEP) arrangements are available. The PI7C9X3G808GP supports fan-out and dual-host connections with this CDEP feature.
The built-in PCIe 3.0 clock buffer reduces the overall number of components used, helping to reduce BOM costs. The low power operation features of this integrated buffer make it unique in the industry. Three reference frequency options are available: universal, Independent Reference no spread spectrum (SRNS) and Independent reference spread spectrum (SRIS). Multiple direct memory access (DMA) channels are embedded in the switcher to maximize the efficiency of communication between a single host (or multiple hosts) and connected endpoints.
The switcher comes with features such as error handling, advanced error reporting, and end-to-end data protection with error correction, a key feature for reliability, availability and service (RAS). Advanced power management capabilities mean this switcher meets the most stringent energy saving requirements. When the hot plug port is not in use, it will remain in a low power state. At full load and a junction temperature of 80°C, the PI7C9X3G808GP's power consumption is only 2.9W.
