Diodes Incorporated announced the AP43771 USB Type-C Power Transfer (PD) controller featuring an embedded microcontroller with disposable programmable memory. When combined with Diode's complementary technology, the AP43771 forms the basis of an offline charger that delivers 18W to 33W of power while supporting fast charging with extremely low standby power consumption.
The AP43771 represents the second generation of diode highly integrated controllers optimized for fast chargers. It integrates support for USB PD version 3.0 V1.1 and Qualcomm Quick Charge (QC) 2.0, 3.0 and 4/4+ technologies, as well as Battery charging (BC) version 1.2.
The AP43771 provides 18W when combined with the diode's AP39303 pulse width modulation switch and the APR34709 synchronous rectification (SR) switch. The AP43771 provides a 33W charger solution when combined with the AP3303 pulse width modulation controller and the APR347 SR controller.
The Programmable Power Supply (PPS) feature, which was introduced with the latest version of the USB PD specification, can also be supported by the AP43771. The AP43771 can adjust constant current and constant voltage output drivers in steps from 50mA to 6A and 20mV, respectively, between 3V and 16V.
