Diodes introduces LED/LCD boost controllers with a maximum input of 40V

     Diodes introduces the AL3353 LED/LCD boost controller with a maximum input of 40V for a variety of product applications requiring constant voltage or current, driving the display and backlight in a 100:1 dimming ratio. Ideal for backlit drivers for LCD TVS, LCD displays, flat panel displays, and LED drivers for commercial lighting applications. The AL3353 is available in a SO-8 package

     The AL3353 is a versatile boost controller with a wide input voltage range of 9V to 40V, which can easily be adapted to a variety of common supply voltages such as 12V, 24V and 36V without having to configure it separately or worry about efficiency loss. The AL3353 is also equipped with circuit protection based on proprietary technology, which is comprehensive and robust.

     The AL3353 maintains the linearity of temperature and process changes by using the Diodes dynamic linear compensation technology with offset cancellation clipping circuit. This patent-pending technology takes a digital PWM input and converts it into an internal analog signal to control dimming, ranging from 1% to 100%, or a 100:1 ratio. This technology provides a wider range of dimming than most current boost drivers for this application space.

     In addition to a wide input voltage range and outstanding dimming capabilities, the AL3353 features comprehensive protection specifically designed for target applications, including short-circuit protection for diodes and inductors, short-circuit ground terminal protection for LED cathodes, LED open circuit protection, and power MOSFET overcurrent protection. Other protections include undervoltage lock, output overvoltage and overheat protection, and VOUT short-circuit protection.
