Diodes introduces USB Model C linear multiplexer/demultiplexer with integrated USB-C detector

     Diodes Incorporated announced that PI3EQX10612 / PI3EQX10312 2-port 10Gbps linear ReDriver™ devices feature integrated USB-C® inspection for devices implementing USBType-C® interfaces. ReDrivers offers 1:2/2:1 multiplexer/multiplexer capabilities that can be used to extend the coverage of USB signals running on rigid or flexible PCBS in game consoles, laptops, desktops, tablets, and other consumer applications.

     As the speed of serial buses (such as USB) continues to increase, the use of ReDriver and ReTimer/Repeater is required to overcome signal integrity issues and transmission losses. While the retimer typically terminates the signal before it is retransmitted, which can cause significant delays, the PI3EQX10612 / PI3EQX10312 redriver is designed to run at the same speed as the bus while amplifying the signal. The additional drivers provided thus allow the serial bus to move over longer PCB tracks without losing any signal. The loss compensation per dB channel provided is equal to a measurable increase in PCB trace length.

     The PI3EQX10612 / PI3EQX10312 is fully compliant with USB 3.2 Gen 2 and Gen 1 Super Speed standards. They provide adjustable linear equalization, output swing, and flat gain for adaptive power management in automatic sleep mode, thereby reducing intersymbol interference. The transfer driver uses pre-weights at the transmission point to help compensate for channel losses, providing high reliability and low bit error rates at the receiver. Control can be achieved using the I2C interface or pin control. The PI3EQX10312 offers additional features, including plug-in inspection for USB-C connectors and Vconn for powering active cables.
