Diodes introduces a range of PCIe 4.0 frequency generators and buffers for automotive specifications

     Diodes offers an automotive specification line of PCI Express (PCIe) 4.0 frequency generators and buffers with advanced features for demanding automotive applications, including AV hosts, ECUS, ADAS, navigation, telematics and infotainment systems.

     The PI6CG182Q, PI6CG184Q, PI6CG188Q (PCIe 4.0 frequency generator), and PI6CB184Q (PCIe 4.0 frequency buffer) provide differential low-power, high-speed current guidance logic (HCSL) through crystal terminal resistors. It is designed to generate and assign reference frequency signals to chipsets with PCIe Gen 4 interfaces. These units comply with AEC-Q100 Level 2 standards and operate in the temperature range -40°C to +105°C, making them suitable for any automotive PCIe application.

     The unit operates at 1.8V and has built-in crystal borne terminal resistors for each HCSL output, thus significantly reducing power consumption and eliminating the need for external resistors; Otherwise the designer would have to add four new resistors for each output pair, or 32 resistors for a device with eight outputs, and power would be lost through external resistors. Each output is also equipped with its own enabling pin to further improve power management for unused outputs.

     These devices are based on Diodes' proprietary PLL technology, which is now proven in millions of products worldwide. Its design includes several advanced features, including programmable output rotation rate and amplitude, and optional spread frequency on the differential output to significantly reduce EMI.

     These automotive standard frequency units were developed with special attention to the automotive manufacturing environment and are therefore packaged in wettable QFN flank packages to ensure compatibility with automated vision inspection operations. The product family includes PI6CG182Q (frequency generator, 2 outputs), PI6CG184Q (frequency generator, 4 outputs), PI6CG188Q (frequency generator, 8 outputs), and PI6CB184Q (frequency buffer, 4 outputs).
