Diodes introduces four packet switches designed for 5G, IoT and AI networks

     Diodes Corporation expands its PCI Express (PCIe) Gen 2.0 solution portfolio with the introduction of four new 3 -, 4-port, 4-channel packet switches designed for the needs of 5G, IoT, and AI networks. These products are ideal for applications such as 5G/LTE, Wi-Fi routers, STBS, security systems, IPC, NAS and other high performance networks where power is important.

     The PI7C9X2G304SV, PI7C9X2G304EV, PI7C9X2G404SV and PI7C9X2G404EV all have built-in frequency buffers to provide cost-effective and low-power solutions. Improve fan out of PCIe ports for applications such as processors, SOCs, FPgas, and chipsets targeting embedded, networking, storage, personal computers, and consumer markets.

     The PI7C9X2G304SV and PI7C9X2G304EV provide 3 ports /4 channels, while the PI7C9X2G404SV and PI7C9X2G404EV provide 4 ports /4 channels. All of the above devices comply with: PCIe base specifications (version 2.1), PCIe CEM specifications (version 2.0), PCI-to-PCI bridge architecture specifications (version 2.1), System Management Bus (SMBus) specifications, and Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) specifications.

     PCI packet switches improve fan-out of PCI ports. The new device offers 3 or 4 ports and 4 channels, as well as extended virtual channel capability to provide two virtual channels and support eight traffic level channels. Its low-power design can reduce power consumption to as low as 300mW and even as low as 35mW in the L1.1D3 hot state. The device also supports point-to-point switching between two downlink ports, and the typical delay of packet routing through the switcher is only 150ns, and no blocking occurs. Unused downlink ports are automatically put into idle mode to further reduce power consumption.

     The maximum load is 512 bytes and each port can be set independently to provide the best drive current and de-intensity level. Parts can also implement downlink port containment in the event of sudden power outages or other failure conditions, helping to achieve high availability in endpoint systems. The operating temperature range of this unit is -40°C to +85°C.

     The PI7C9X2G304SV and PI7C9X2G404SV are available in 128-pin LQFP package (14mm x 14mm), The PI7C9X2G304EV and PI7C9X2G404EV are available in a 136-pin aQFN package (10mm x 10mm).
