Diodes introduces high-precision, single-chip protected ics for 1-Cell Li+ battery packs

     Diodes Corporation, a leading global manufacturer and supplier of high-quality application-specific standard products and products for a wide range of discrete, logic and analog semiconductor markets, today announced the launch of the AP9234L. Offering a large number of protection features, the chip is a highly accurate, single-chip solution designed for single section lithium-ion (Li +) or lithium polymer rechargeable battery packs. The main market for this device is manufacturers of battery-protected circuit modules for smartphones, digital cameras and similar consumer electronic devices.

     The AP9234L integrates a high-precision battery protection circuit using a double-n-channel common drain MOSFET with an ultra-low RSS (ON) specification, generally only 13mΩ at VDD = 4.0V and ID = 1.0A. Safe battery charging and discharging is obtained by turning the MOSFETs off when an overcharge voltage/current is detected, an overdischarge voltage/current is detected, or a load is short-circuited. Built-in fixed delay time also protects external components.

     Stable voltage detection in the operating temperature range from -40°C to + 85°C ensures Diodes' innovative design and process technology, which also delivers power savings through low static currents of 0.1μA in normal mode and typically 3.0μA in power down mode. In addition, the overcurrent detection voltage compensation circuit ensures the accuracy of current limitation. In addition to the power down function, the AP9234L has an selectable auto-wake function and offers protection voltage customization to meet different cell type specifications.
