Diodes Incorporated announced the launch of the PS508 and PS509 analog multiplexers, which are capable of switching signal voltages up to 36V in industrial environments. The high-voltage capabilities of these devices will support Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) applications using multiple sensors, including factory automation and process control, battery monitoring systems, and test and measurement equipment.
The PS508 and PS509 are available in single-ended or differential configurations. A single PS509 provides differential 4:1 or dual 4:1 signal-end channels. The PS508 offers a single-end switchover ratio of 8:1. The address line is used to select the input/output combination, while the enable pin disables all switches at low voltages.
A low charge injection of 0.9pC, combined with low input and output capacitance (30pF or less), ensures minimal distortion of the switched signal. This is important for industrial applications where small changes in the sensor signal can affect the function of the entire system.These multiplexers operate in the -40°C to + 125°C industrial temperature range with dual supply voltages of ±5V to ±18V, or single supply voltages of 10V to 36V. The supply current of both devices is only 135μA, making them suitable for portable applications.
When the supply voltage is ±15V, the key parameter of the analog multiplexer is the low on-resistance of 125Ω. In addition to low on-resistance, low leakage current and low charge injection will help prevent signal loss and degradation, reduce errors in the output signal, and improve signal quality for back-end ADC analysis. The device also has a fast "break before close" switching time of 75ns (minimum 30ns) and a transition time of 171ns (maximum 310ns). This reduces the propagation time from input to output, supporting real-time applications. The switch also provides a low leakage current, which allows it to be used in applications that interface with high impedance sources.
