Diodes Incorporated announced the introduction of its first line of clock generators and clock buffers that meet the PCIe®5.0 specification while still meeting the requirements of PCIe 4.0 and the previous generation. This gives product developers the forward compatibility they need when developing server, storage, and networking equipment for data centers that now use PCIe 4.0 but must prepare for the widespread rollout of PCIe 5.0.

     Diodes Incorporated announced the introduction of its first line of clock generators and clock buffers that meet the PCIe®5.0 specification while still meeting the requirements of PCIe 4.0 and the previous generation. This gives product developers the forward compatibility they need when developing server, storage, and networking equipment for data centers that now use PCIe 4.0 but must prepare for the widespread rollout of PCIe 5.0.

 

     The PCIe Clock Generator's PI6CG33xxxC series and the PCIe Clock Buffer's pi6cb33xxx series, which contain eight and nine devices respectively, offer a variety of options, such as output quantity and output impedance. These devices all have on-chip terminals, eliminating the need for external terminal resistors, saving on BoM costs and board space.

 

     PCIe clock solutions offer lower jitter compared to PCIe 4.0 and PCIe 5.0 versions of the PCIe specification, providing designers with an easier path to higher performance as the market moves toward higher data rates and products.

 

     To further simplify the design process, the devices in the PI6CG33xxxC and pi6cb33xxx series feature programmable conversion rates and output amplites on each output, providing a high degree of flexibility and supporting different board layouts. This programmability helps ensure developers get the best performance under increasingly challenging design conditions.
