Diodes Incorporated announced the industry's first DisplayPort™2.0 (UHBR10) compatible 4-channel, 2:1 active switch, PI3DPX8121 with a multiplexer and ReDriver™. The device joins the company's portfolio of DisplayPort switching and signal conditioning solutions designed to meet the design needs of PCS, monitors, set-top boxes and other AV devices.

     Diodes Incorporated announced the industry's first DisplayPort 2.0 (UHBR10) compatible 4-channel, 2:1 active switch, PI3DPX8121 with a multiplexer and ReDriver. The device joins the company's portfolio of DisplayPort switching and signal conditioning solutions designed to meet the design needs of PCS, monitors, set-top boxes and other AV devices.

 

     DisplayPort was developed to provide data transmission of high-resolution digital video with audio. Version 2.0 of the DisplayPort specification covers three data rates: 10Gbps (UHBR10), 13.5Gbps (UHBR13.5), and 20Gbps (UHBR20). The PI3DPX8121 is currently the only product that supports the 10Gbps base speed and includes the reuse features mentioned in the specification.

 

     DisplayPort 2.0 increases available bandwidth compared to DisplayPort 1.4, which has a maximum data rate of 8.1Gbps per channel. The main advantage of higher bandwidth is that it alleviates the need for data compression, which increases the overall system speed. A new consumer product with DisplayPort 2.0 is expected in early 2021, and the PI3DPX8121 is expected to help manufacturers reach their 10Gbps (UHBR10) goal.

 

     The PI3DPX8121 ReDriver is compatible with DisplayPort 1.4 and 2.0 (UHBR10), making it future-resilient. The device also provides protocol agnocentric operation and supports the LTTPR (Link Trained Transparent PHY Repeater) redrive data path type. The device incorporates a CTLE equalizer at the input to reduce ISI jitter and compensate for channel losses. The PI3DPX8121 also offers programmable flat gain and linear adjustment.
