Diodes' ultra-low voltage drop linear LED drivers extend the strip

     Diodes announced the introduction of the BCR430UW6 linear LED driver with ultra-low voltage drop and constant current regulation between 5mA and 100mA. This combination enables the low supply voltage to drive more leds, making the BCR430UW6 suitable for product applications that require the use of multiple leds, such as billboard lighting and building lighting for commercial and retail equipment.

     Ultra-low voltage drop of 115mV and low operating current of only 285μA provide superior system efficiency and display, allowing more leds to be reliably driven per strip. These elements are particularly important for the user experience of products with lighting characteristics, such as billboards and architectural lighting.

     The device does not require external power transistors or capacitors, which also reduces overall BoM costs and increases system stability. Long-term stability is also improved by a robust design that withstands overvoltage potentials due to LED or supply transients. Integrated thermal protection limits the output current when the operating temperature is too high, avoiding operation failures and extending the operating life of the LED for as long as possible.

     The output current of the BCR430UW6 can be adjusted between 5mA and 100mA, providing excellent flexibility and allowing a single design to be used to drive a variety of LED configurations. Its output is very stable, temperature changes and supply voltage perturbations can be maintained within ±5%. This stability provides consistent output lighting levels in all operating conditions.

     The BCR430UW6 is packaged in SOT26. Other advanced features include PWM dimming, operating voltage ranges from 5V to 42V, and support for parallel operation to increase regulated output current.
