Discovery kit for Bluetooth direction finding and indoor positioning

U-blox XPLR-AOA-3 Bluetooth Direction Finding Exploration Kit and Reference Design includes a U-Blox-designed circuit board for Bluetooth direction finding and indoor positioning in the NINA-B4 module. The suite enables users to evaluate ANT-B10 antenna boards and U-Blox-optimized direction finding algorithms. The kit is also a comprehensive Angle of Arrival (AoA) anchor point reference design.

The ANT-B10 antenna board has an antenna array consisting of eight independent patch antennas and a NINA-B411 Bluetooth 5.1 module. The board is designed for commercial final product integration through supported low power, high precision indoor positioning. It accelerates the evaluation, testing and commercialization of Bluetooth direction finding and indoor positioning solutions. With u-connectLocate software running on a Bluetooth module, developers can efficiently execute u-blox Angle calculation algorithms.

The EVB-ANT-1 application board provides a quick and easy way for developers to evaluate the ANT-B10 antenna board. The board features an NXP RT1061 MCU (for configuring and developing direction-finding applications) and an Ethernet PHY chip and u-blox MAYA-W1 Wi-Fi module. The ready-made pin row on the EVB-ANT-1 can be easily connected to the ANT-B10, generating out-of-the-box AoA indoor positioning anchor points in seconds.

The C209 is a label based on the NINA-B406 Bluetooth low Power module. The tag runs software that sends Bluetooth 5.1 advertising messages for the ANT-B10 antenna board to receive, and then selects the tag direction via the u-connectLocate software.

The XPLr-AAO-3 suite is able to explore many different indoor positioning applications. For example, it can detect if an object is approaching a door, track goods passing through the door, avoid collisions between autonomous guided vehicles, or allow cameras to track assets moving across a room. By combining the triangulation directions of multiple XPLR-AOA-3 kits with three or more ANT-B10 antenna plates, a positioning system can be created.
