Driver Wolfspeed XM3 1200V SiC (SiC) Half-bridge power module Reference design

     Skyworks Solutions Inc.SI828X-AAWB-KIT Isolation Gate Driver (GDB) provides a reference design for driving Wolfspeed XM3 1200V SiC (SiC) half-bridge power modules. The XM3 half-bridge power module maximizes the benefits of carbide while maintaining the robustness, simplicity, and cost performance of the module and system design. The XM3 power supply module is half the weight and volume of a standard 62 mm module, maximizing power density while minimizing loop inductance and enabling a simple power bus.

     Skyworks Solutions Inc. SI828X-AAWB-KIT GBD uses a dual-channel isolation gate drive reference design with a half-bridge configuration with a differential digital interface. The device also includes an optimized on-board isolation power supply, DESAT protection, gate drive current enhancement, and user-configurable open (RH) and close (RL) gate resistors. Status indicator leds and test points support simple evaluation and prototyping.

     The GDB+XM3 combination is ideal for target automotive (electric vehicle drivetrains and chargers) and industrial (motor drives and power supplies) applications. Skyworks isolation gate drivers and extensive pretesting of Wolfspeed SiC FeTs enable design engineers to easily implement system power switching levels.
