Dual RF iot development kit for innovative connectivity of smart devices

St's STEVAL-FKI001V1 dual RF development kit supports Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Sub-1GHz parallel wireless communication, significantly improving the design, development efficiency and connectivity flexibility of iot devices, such as, Smart sensors, detectors and trackers that enable configuration, update, remote monitoring and tracking through a variety of network topologies, protocols and services.

     St's STEVAL-FKI001V1 dual RF development kit supports Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Sub-1GHz parallel wireless communication, significantly improving the design, development efficiency and connectivity flexibility of iot devices, such as, Smart sensors, detectors and trackers that enable configuration, update, remote monitoring and tracking through a variety of network topologies, protocols and services.

 

     To drive more creativity from developers in areas such as smart home/smart building, asset tracking, energy management, smart agriculture and industrial monitoring, the STEVAL-FKI001V1 development board integrates ST's BlueNRG-1 Bluetooth system chip and S2-LP sub-1GHz transceiver. The powerful dual-RF architecture enables simultaneous operation of various radio bands and communication protocols, such as Bluetooth Low Energy or proprietary 2.4GHz, Sub-1GHz and Sigfox technologies.

 

     Users can quickly develop smart iot devices with mesh or point-to-point local interconnect and support flexible cloud connectivity, for example, by creating a local wireless sensor network with BLE Bluetooth Low Energy or Sub-1GHz, and then connecting the entire system to the cloud via a local gateway or directly via the ubiquitous seamless Sigfox network. Easily create a convenient smart home sensor ecosystem for policing or remote monitoring purposes, all with a single STEVAL-FKI001V1 kit.

 

     BlueNRG-1 Bluetooth 5.0 authentication solutions make it easy to set, configure, or modify parameters during device installation or maintenance, and allow users to monitor sensor network nodes through Android or iOS device applications.

 

     The Sub-1GHz S2-LP transceiver supports local networking and LPWAN networking, including Sigfox global connectivity, real-time event notification and other features. In addition, users can take advantage of the immediately available Sigfox network to track and locate device assets.

 

     With the on-board Arduino™Uno V3 connector, users can extend kit functionality at any time, and the ST X-NUCLEO ecosystem offers developers a variety of companion boards, including expansion boards with MEMS sensors, motor controls, GNSS receivers, or industrial input/output and power drivers.

 

     The STEVAL-FKI001V1 development kit is also fully compatible with the recently released BlueNRG-Tile board, giving developers the opportunity to further unleash their creativity and easily build end-to-end smart sensor solutions, including sensor nodes, local gateways, and global cloud connectivity.

 

     Using the multifunctional interface of the BlueNRG-1 system chip and the ultra-low-power Arm Cortex-M0 processor core and 256KB embedded program memory, users can connect selected external sensors and process locally acquired data in real time. The STEVAL-FKI001V1 comes with easy-to-use SDK software that simplifies product development and reduces time to market, while maintaining system flexibility, scalability and scalability. In fact, the software can also be used in conjunction with the ST BlueNRG-Mesh software package to create large networks on devices installed on a large scale. BLE connection supports firmware over-the-air download updates.

 

     Based on Jorjin's ready-to-use WS2118 RF dual RF module, the STEVAL-FKI001V1 provides developers with a convenient pre-certified solution that can quickly move from the early conceptual feasibility design stage to prototype development, field trials and series production. This programmable ultra-low-power RF module has flexible power management and wake-up event functions, and a small battery can last for many years.
