DustPhotonics introduces 400Gbps QSFP-DD active optical cable

     DustPhotonicsTM announces that it has conducted a sample inspection of 400G active optical cables of QSFP-DD specification and completed all pre-production procedures. The 400Gbps active optical cable uses DustPhotonics' AuraDPTM optical engine and unique fiber integration and production technology to provide a competitive solution for short-range high-density multimode fiber applications.

The 400Gbps active optical cable uses DustPhotonics' AuraDPTM optical engine and unique fiber integration and production technology to provide a competitive solution for short-range high-density multimode fiber applications.

     In the next five years, the multimode active cable market will usher in significant growth in high-performance computing and large-scale data center applications. Future use of 400Gbps and higher data rates will limit the use of Direct Attach Copper to very short distances. Compared with copper core cables, active optical cables have significant advantages such as higher performance (lower bit error rate), better insulation, lower cable weight and smaller bending radius.

Production of the 400G QSFP-DD active cable is expected to begin in the second half of 2019.
