EPC introduces 400W motor driver demo board based on gallium nitride integrated power stage

EPC announced the introduction of the 400 W Motor Drive Demonstration Board (EPC9146), consisting of three independently controlled half-bridge circuits, using the monolithic EPC2152 ePower power stage with integrated gate drivers, with A maximum voltage of 80 V and a maximum output current of 15 A (10 ARMS). The size of the board is only 81 mm x 75 mm, and more than 98.4% efficiency can be achieved at an output power of 400 W.

     EPC announced the introduction of the 400 W Motor Drive Demonstration Board (EPC9146), consisting of three independently controlled half-bridge circuits, using the single-chip EPC2152 ePower™ power stage with integrated gate drivers, with A maximum voltage of 80 V and a maximum output current of 15 A (10 ARMS). The size of the board is only 81 mm x 75 mm, and more than 98.4% efficiency can be achieved at an output power of 400 W.

 

     The EPC9146 can be used with individually designed matching boards, allowing users to directly control the power board using a variety of existing mainstream microcontroller boards for rapid development. The EPC9146 can be configured to support a variety of applications, including three-phase motor drivers for robots, drones, electric bicycles, electric scooters, polyphase staggered buck converters and full-bridge converters.

 

     Alex Lidow, CEO and co-founder of IPPower Conversion, said: "Due to the fast switching, small size and low cost of gallium nitride field-effect transistors (eGaN® FETs) and integrated circuits, BLDC motors can be further reduced in size and weight, reduced noise, improved torque for faster reaction times, and increased efficiency. The EPC9146 is an ideal example to demonstrate the performance of the integrated power stage EPC2152 - taking advantage of the simplified design and improved performance of gallium nitride devices to extend the application field."
