ETAS and Infineon's AURIX microcontroller-based ESCRYPT CycurHSM received NIST CAVP certification

     ETAS, a leading provider of software-defined automotive (SDV) solutions, and Infineon Technologies AG have successfully certified their suite of encryption algorithms. The certificate was validated under the Encryption Algorithm Validation Program (CAVP) of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and was awarded ESCRYPT CycurHSM. The automotive embedded security software stack is based on Infineon's second generation AURIX™ TC3xx semiconductor Hardware Security Module (HSM) implementation.

     The internationally recognized CAVP testing protocol is considered the established standard. The standard validates the quality of the implementation of encryption algorithms and ensures that they are functioning correctly according to NIST, the US federal agency responsible for setting encryption standards and guidelines. Independent verification of the implemented encryption suite through the CAVP test protocol ensures that it meets key requirements in the Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) certification, the U.S. federal government's encryption software standard.

     ESCRYPT CycurHSM is an automotive embedded security software stack that implements a security trust anchor using a hardware security module on an automotive microcontroller (MCU). It helps meet the complex security requirements of Oems and can be deployed in any automotive electronic control unit (ECU), including domain controllers. ESCRYPT CycurHSM can be smoothly integrated into any AUTOSAR stack or boot loader, and is also suitable for non-AUTOSAR systems.

     Infineon's second generation AURIX TC3xx HSM is available for all models in the AURIX TC3xx MCU family. Therefore, the CAVP validation of ESCRYPT CycurHSM V2.7.13 applies to the entire AURIX TC3xx series. This shows that the AURIX TC3xx HSM is fully capable of supporting the implementation of CAVP-verified encryption algorithms with the help of an integrated encryption accelerator.
