Eggtronic has introduced its EPIC mixed-signal power conversion controller ICs, which now include reprogrammable flash memory options.the EPIC 2.0 Flash series has been developed to provide OEMs with increased flexibility during the design process and to enable the deployment of the same low-power, mixed-signal IC across multiple applications, thereby reducing inventory.
EPIC (Eggtronic Power Integrated Controller) ICs are specifically engineered to enhance performance and efficiency across a wide range of power levels, while also minimizing power consumption during idle periods. Additionally, these ICs help minimize the number of components needed and the overall size of high-performance power converter and wireless power transmission systems. EPIC 2.0 Flash ICs are designed with a 32-bit RISC-V core and a wide range of high-performance digital and analog peripherals. These ICs include a versatile internal structure that allows for control of both standard and bespoke power conversion architectures.
This recent release enables the utilization of flash programming in controllers for various consumer and industrial applications, such as USB-PD and Qi charging, AC/DC and DC/DC power supplies, motion control, lighting, and wireless power transmission, with power ratings of up to 10 kW. With the new Epic devices, engineers may achieve economies of up to 96% while still having the ability to use their firmware, modify firmware libraries at any point in the development process, respond to changes in industry standards, and conveniently test different design alternatives throughout the prototype phase.
Eggtronic devised the new series to streamline and expedite the design process, while also reducing the inventory of integrated circuits (ICs) required by OEMs. Developers can mitigate risk by initially using the Flash version and then smoothly transitioning to a cost-effective OTP EPIC for production. Similarly, OEMs can maintain a single, versatile part number for multiple applications, and add specific functionality by reprogramming the flash, either before installing the integrated circuit or even directly within the circuit.
The EPIC2ATxxx flash version is fully compatible with any Eggtronic firmware designed for the current EPIC2ACxxx OTP version. This allows customers and OEMs to choose the most suitable memory for their specific applications and requirements. Upon request, a variety of programming tools and comprehensive data sheets can be provided for the assessment and implementation of Eggtronic controllers.
