Eight high-low side switches for driving loads in industrial applications

     Toshiba Electronics Europe has released two smart power products for controlling drives of resistive and inductive loads, including motors, solenoids and lamps, for applications such as programmable logic controllers in industrial equipment. The rugged power switch can operate in temperatures ranging from -40℃ to +110℃ (Topr), with junction temperature (Tj) up to +150℃, ensuring its suitability for challenging industrial environments.

     The new power switch products include eight channels, which are high side (TPD2015FN) and low side (TPD2017FN) switches. These devices benefit from the company's latest emulator piece process (BiCD), which combines bipolar, CMOS and DMOS technologies. Both products come in a 0.65mm pitch sop30 package and measure only 9.7mm x 7.6mm x 1.2mm. Compared to SSOP24 packages (13mm × 8mm × 1.5mm) currently used for products such as TPD2005F and TPD2007F, this design reduces the size of the design by approximately 29% of the mounting area and 20% of the height.

     In addition, these products have built in over current and over temperature protection circuits to ensure the reliability of the equipment used. In terms of electrical performance, the on-going resistance (RDS(ON) of both devices is 0.4 ohm, more than 50% lower than Toshiba's existing products, significantly improving operational efficiency and thermal performance.
