Elmos introduces sensor signal conditioning chips developed specifically for automotive applications

Elmos has announced the E520.47, a sensor signal conditioning IC with a SENT interface that supports synchronous signal processing of two resistive sensor Bridges. The IC has been developed specifically for the needs of automotive applications. The E520.47 complies with standard ISO26262 in order to be able to meet the safety requirements of the system up to ASIL C level. The IC can be used in a variety of applications such as braking, sensors, MEMS pressure sensor applications and resistive bridge sensors.

The IC has been developed specifically for the needs of automotive applications. The E520.47 complies with standard ISO26262 in order to be able to meet the safety requirements of the system up to ASIL C level. The IC can be used in a variety of applications such as braking, sensors, MEMS pressure sensor applications and resistive bridge sensors.

 

     The E520.47 provides low-noise sensor signal conditioning with two 15-bit Delta-σ ADCs for two-channel resistance bridge sensor signal processing, including compensation and linearization processing. Two additional temperature channels with a 14-bit Delta-σ ADC enable precise detection and linearization of sensors at different temperatures. In addition, the IC integrates internal sensors and self-diagnostics. Sensitivity range is 3-112 mV/V. The E520.47 provides 10 coarse gain and 31 coarse drift adjustment.

 

     The IC is available in QFN20L4 package or unpackaged IC (bare chip). All compensated and linearized sensor data for the E520.47 is available at the digital SENT interface output. The SENT pin allows serial I/O communication, enabling true 1-wire terminal configuration and calibration. In addition, the I2C interface allows the E520.47 to access the sensor faster to diagnose, calibrate and configure the data. For this IC, elmos offers a set of calibration tools including utility software.
