Excelitas introduces a two-channel pyroelectric detector for gas monitoring

     Excelitas Technologies Corp. has introduced a new two-channel pyroelectric detector for gas monitoring, the PYS 3228/3428, which can be used to detect the presence of the refrigerant Freon R32. Excelitas' PYS 3228/3428 detector includes two built-in infrared filters, one with a transmittance of 9.127μm that detects the IR energy of Freon R32 in this wavelength absorption band, and the other filter with an infrared energy of 3.95 μm as a reference point. The pyroelectric detector is available in PYS3228TC G7.9, G20 and G20.3 standard parts and EMI improved PYS 3428TC G7.9, G20 and 20.3.

     The new PYS 3228/3428 is very sensitive to Freon R32 and has no cross-sensitivity to other gases, so it is particularly suitable for measuring gas concentrations to assess the presence of leaks in cooling units such as air conditioners and freezers that use freon as refrigerants, and provides separate reference channel output signals and measurement channel output signals.
