Expand its human-machine interface solutions for industrial, consumer and home applications

     Spansion, the world's leading provider of embedded system solutions, has launched two ARM® Cortex-M4-based microcontrollers to further expand its presence in the industrial, consumer and home appliance sectors. These product families are: S6E2DH series with integrated graphics display controller and S6E2CCxxF/MB9BF568F series with voice control function.

     Dhiraj Handa, senior vice president and general manager of Spansion's cross-market Microcontroller group, said: "These new product families offer great value and flexibility to help customers design a wide range of intuitive, next-generation human machine interface (HMI) systems.      The S6E2DH family integrates a high-performance ARM Cortex-M4 core based microcontroller, a 2D rendering Graphics Display controller (GDC) with dedicated video RAM, and a rich array of communication and digital peripherals, making it a truly embedded processor capable of integrating industrial, consumer, and home displays. GDC enables rich graphics processing capabilities, thus reducing the burden on the microcontroller CPU and allowing it to handle other application functions. The S6E2DH series provides a high-speed interface for connecting NAND/NOR flash memory and SDRAM. Spansion's HyperBus™ interface is part of a graphics subsystem that enables extremely fast image retrieval without impeding code execution.

     In addition to multiple image processing functions such as near and far, zoom, rotate, mirror, move, etc., GDC also comes with an underlying library for drawing and quickly rendering 2D graphics. In addition, it features layer alpha blending transparency and image compression to reduce memory requirements while improving image acquisition speed. These features make the highly integrated S6E2DH series ideal for smart consumer electronics/appliance applications, keeping bill of materials (BOM) costs low while giving consumers the rich graphical experience they have come to expect.
