FLIR introduces Scion thermal imaging monocular for public safety professionals

     FLIR Systems announced the launch of the FLIR Scion Professional Thermal Imaging monocular (PTM) for public safety professionals. The Scion PTM uses FLIR's high-performance Boson thermal imaging core to deliver higher image quality and enables connectivity with FLIR TruWITNESS to stream encrypted thermal video in real time, providing professionals with greater situational awareness.

     The rugged Scion PTM features FLIR's state-of-the-art thermal imaging core, which enables users to quickly spot targets and more detail, providing a clear view in low-visibility conditions. With a refresh rate of 60 Hertz, the Scion PTM offers 2 gigabytes of internal storage and a microSD card slot for recording geotagged video or still images for later playback. Other features include picture-in-picture scaling, global Positioning System (GPS) capabilities, and Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capabilities that facilitate file transfer between devices.

     When connected to the FLIR TruWITNESS wearable sensor platform built for city-level security and public safety operations, Scion PTM combines video, audio, and location data over a wireless network, enabling organizations to transmit thermal imaging recordings of any tracking, evidence acquisition, or search and rescue efforts to command centers.
