Flex Power Modules introduces a 1/4 brick 100 W DC/DC converter with an 8:1 input ratio

     Flex Power Modules has added a new 1/4 brick, backboard-cooled DC/DC converter PKM8100A to its product line with an ultra-wide input range of 9-75 VDC (100V/ 100ms). The PKM8100A delivers 100 W of power with up to 89% efficiency and offers an initial output of 12 V/8.35A or 54 V/1.85 A. The input-output isolation voltage is rated at 3000 VDC, which meets the requirements of IEC/UL 62368-1. The product has a wealth of features including remote control, output fine-tuning and remote sensing, while protection features include overtemperature, input undervoltage lock, output overvoltage and short circuit.

     The PKM8100A comes in an industry-standard quarter-brick package measuring 57.9 x 36.8 x 12.7 mm with in-line pin connections. The device can operate at base plate temperatures up to 110°C; When mounted on a cold wall, it can operate without derating at 3 m/s wind speed, 85°C ambient temperature, or 75°C ambient temperature with natural convection.

     The product can meet the requirements of EMC standard EN 55032, CISPR 32 and FCC Part 15J Class B with the addition of an input filter, and the component values of the filter are indicated in the specification. According to Telcordia SR-332 Issue 3 Method 1, the reliability of the product is up to 3.78 Mhrs at ambient temperatures of 40°C.

"The wide input range means the part can withstand pressure reduction and surge in harsh environments. Or just one product to cover a wide range of nominal inputs, reducing product inventory."
