Texas Instruments' CC3235MODx SimpleLink dual-band wireless microcontroller module. The CC3235MODx module is CC, ISED/IC, ETSI/CE and MIC certified and integrates a high-performance application processor, network processor, encryption engine and a wealth of peripherals in one chip, making it ideal for Internet of Things (IoT), building automation, security and healthcare applications.

The TI CC3235MODx SimpleLink series module integrates a 40-MHz crystal oscillator, a 32.768-kHz RTC clock, SPI serial flash memory, RF filters, diplexers and passive components, as well as a network processor that runs all Wi-Fi and Internet logic layers. This network processor subsystem includes 802.11a/b/g/n dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz radios, baseband, and a MAC with a powerful hardware encryption engine that takes over all the functions of the host microcontroller.

The CC3235MODx's new capabilities simplify connectivity operations for iot applications, These features include 802.11a/n 5 GHz support, 2.4GHz band radio (e.g. Bluetooth® Low power) coexistence, antenna selection, enhanced security with FIPS 140-2 Level 1 certification, up to 16 co-existing secure TCP/IP sockets, and more. And a Certificate Signing Request (CSR).

The CC3235MODx module is available in two versions: CC3235MODS and CC3235MODSF. The CC3235MODS integrates an Arm® Cortex®-M4 microcontroller, 256 KB of application RAM, IoT network security, and device identification/key. Based on the CC3235MODS, the CC3235MODSF not only has 256 KB of RAM, but also adds 1 MB of user-specific executable flash memory. Both versions provide microcontroller-level security features such as file system encryption, user IP (microcontroller image) encryption, secure boot, and debug security.

The CC3235MODx module also comes with the TI CC3235MODSF LaunchPad™ development kit. The kit includes the CC3235MODSF module and a range of out-of-the-box sensors for accelerated development, as well as on-board simulation capabilities using the XDS-110. The 40-pin LaunchPad pin configuration on the board allows designers to integrate the BoosterPack™ ecosystem with add-on boards. Engineers can connect the board directly to a PC for use with development tools such as the Code Composer Studio Integrated Development Environment (IDE) cloud and IAR Embedded Workbench.
