Harting introduces the new Han-Modular shielding module and M12 solution

     With the newly launched Han Shielded Power module, users can for the first time achieve modularization and engagement of shielded power cable connections. New additions to the Han-Modular range are the M12 solution for mechanical engineering and transport applications and the Han DD dual module. With the latter, space-saving interfaces can be created in areas such as robotics and automation, thereby reducing assembly time.

     The Han Shielded power module features three power contacts and one PE contact for conventional three-phase loads, two signal contacts for temperature monitoring, brakes, and a large area shield that enables cable shielding for better EMC compliance. The module can be used as an alternative to hardwired shielded power cords, while also allowing such connections to be made on a common housing at the same time as other modules in the Han-Modular series.

     Harting has tested the new module in the EMC laboratory. The EMC characteristics of the shielding layer are suitable for typical driver applications such as variable frequency drives. The advantage of this module is that connector connections that shield power cables are now possible. The shielding layer can be directly connected to the module, which is very convenient to operate. This ultimately reduces the assembly time of machinery and equipment in the factory or at the end customer.

     As a reliable data interface, the M12 has gained high recognition in the field of mechanical engineering. Now, Harting has integrated this type of joint with a single module, offering the Han M12 module with two M12 signal, industrial bus or Ethernet transmission interfaces. It is available in a variety of D or X-coded versions. The package density is eventually doubled compared to existing modules. It also frees up a module space within the hinged frame - space that can be used for other functions.

     With the HanDD dual module, Harting has created 36 HanD contact solutions that combine high contact density with a 400V rated voltage. The existing solution can only accommodate 24 250 V contacts in the same space. This increases the number of contacts by 50%. The electrical characteristics of the dual modules (10 A/400 V) are particularly suitable for transmitting power and signals from equipment and robots. For the first time ever, plug-in connections including all the robot's six-axis return path three-phase AC motors can be achieved using a single module.
