Harwin offers robust, large-diameter terminal pins

     To complement the company's 1mm diameter terminal pins, Harwin now offers a range of 1.75mm diameter options suitable for larger outlets that require a single connection. The new terminal pins provide current ratings in excess of 9A, making them ideal for power applications. They are also compatible with Harwin's existing single contact socket portfolio, so pairing can be easily achieved. For example, they can be used as larger SYCAMORE contact engagement pins, or for the company's twin beam surface-mounted PCB sockets.

     Harwin terminal pins are designed for through-board soldering on 1.6mm thick PCBS and are available in 5mm, 8.1mm, 9.5mm, 15.3mm and 21.65mm versions higher than the PCB. The new terminal pins are able to accommodate large variations in the board-to-board distance, which are usually more common in the manufacturing process due to production tolerances. This means that other connections that can only accept minimal PCB spacing differences need to be fully maintained without any additional stress. The new Harwin terminal pins have a tinned or gold plated surface for high durability and ensure a long service life.

     Neil Moore, Product Manager for EMC and Industrial connectors at Harwin, said: "In applications such as electric vehicle charging, we have noticed increasing customer demand for larger SYCAMORE and SMT sockets, but to date the market has been very limited in the number of suitable terminal pins that can be supplied. Therefore, we decided to meet customer demand by introducing a larger diameter terminal pin and matching it with Harwin's existing products. This means that customers who are eager to find the right solution can now contact Harwin directly, and we anticipate that these new products will have great opportunities in many areas such as metrology, instrumentation, satellite and robotics."
