Helical hinges without hinged pins reduce assembly time and cost

     Designed by EMKA, it offers the same performance as the existing 1056 hinge, but costs less and allows open and closed door operation. This new method of simplifying the design is suitable for recessed doors and is interchangeable with existing 1056 designs without modification of drawings or production. The screw hinge does not require the usual hinge pins, and due to its novel design, it incorporates the pins into the two separate blades of the hinge so that they can be inserted at 270 degrees and then securely interlock when the hinge is closed to 180 degrees.

     This feature also allows the door to be simply removed if needed. Hinges can be pre-assembled or self-assembled as separate half-hinges, depending on the customer's needs. The hinge, whose design protects the hinge half, is offered in three different sizes :60mm x 60mm (M8), 50mm x 50mm (M6) and 40mm x 40mm (M5).

     Customers can also choose from four different materials and a variety of surfaces: polyamide (glass fiber reinforced plastic), zinc die casting (black powder coating or chrome plating), aluminum (die casting; Black powder coating or anthracite anodized) and stainless steel (investment casting; Grinding or industrial polishing). While polyamide, the lightest material for its tensile strength, high elasticity, rigidity and hardness, zinc die casting exerts its strength and durability (resistance to fatigue).

     Aluminum hinges, on the other hand, score points for their light weight and resistance to corrosion and weathering. The stainless steel version also offers high resistance to corrosion and weathering plus rugged high performance, enabling it to be used even on thin walls.
