High dielectric strength MOSFET relays for smart meters and test systems

     Omron Electronic Components Europe has expanded its extensive MOSFET relay series through two new devices. The new Omron G3VM-401 and G3VM-601 provide high dielectric strength and working temperature for electric meters and industrial control applications. The new G3VM-41UR provides a low CxR of only 10pF * Ohm and can handle up to 40V current at 0.25A - which is excellent for this size of equipment. It is a special compact replacement for SOP4 packaging devices and reed relays.

     Its low resistance is only 2 Ohms, and its low output capacitance is only 5pF, which is very suitable for switch test signals in ATE system and other test, measurement and communication equipment applications. The new G3VM-41UR device is a kind of high response device, which can provide low on-resistance and output capacitance in the ultra-compact VSON package for testing and measurement applications, especially ATE.

     Operating temperature is a special challenge for meter designers, because these units need to be sealed to prevent tampering. The new equipment solves this problem because they can withstand an ambient temperature of up to 110 degrees Celsius. They also provide a high dielectric strength of 5000 v rms AC. The device is provided in the form of surface mounting and through hole with SPST-NO contact. They are very energy-saving, and the trigger current is only 2mA. G3VM-401 can process load current as high as 400V at 120mA, and G3VM-601 can process load current as high as 600V at 90mA.
