High performance cable system provides better signal integrity

     Samtec's Flyover QSFP (FQSFP) cable system. Cable systems support a variety of protocols, including Ethernet, USB 3.0, PCIe 3.0 and 4.0,IB FDR, IB EDR, optical, SAS, SATA, and are ideal for data center, digital video, high speed networking and communications applications.

     These high-performance cable systems deliver critical data signals over low-loss, ultra-low-angle twisted-pair cables rather than lossy PCBS, resulting in improved signal integrity and architectural flexibility ideal for high-speed networking, digital video and communications.

     The FQSFP cable system has been developed specifically for 28Gbps to 56Gbps + applications where signal integrity is critical, and is compatible with all MSA QSFP pluggable transceivers. This design, combined with the eye-speed dual cable, provides better signal integrity and longer signal path length at higher data rates, with polymerization rates up to 400Gbps (112Gbps PAM4).

     The cable system simplifies board layout and reduces thermal challenges, while direct contact points in the connector body eliminate transition plates to optimize signal integrity. The design includes local crimping controls and power contacts, reducing airflow barriers and eliminating the need for secondary cables and connectors. Two-port architecture is supported for maximum density.

     For design flexibility, the cable system is available with a variety of End 2 options. These options include mini edge card connectors for vertical or horizontal orientation, edge card sockets, FireFly Micro Flyover connectors and high-speed press-fit connectors. Other fittings provided include connector cage, radiator and lamp tube.
