High-precision optocoupler isolation amplifiers for industrial equipment applications

     Toshiba Corporation's Semiconductor and Memory Products company announced the launch of a high-precision optocoupler isolation amplifier equipped with a Delta-Sigma AD converter that detects small current and voltage fluctuations for industrial equipment applications. The new product will be available in both analog and digital output types and will be available in a 2.3mm (Max) low height SO8L thin package or traditional DIP8 package.

     Monitoring the motor's phase current and BUS voltage fluctuations to provide precise feedback to microcontrollers is critical to achieving the high-precision operation required for recent industrial equipment, including inverters and servo amplifiers. To meet these requirements, the new optocoupler isolation amplifier is equipped with a high-precision Delta-Sigma AD converter at its input, achieving the highest level of linearity in the industry, with a nonlinear error of 0.02% (NL200, typical) for analog output products and an integral nonlinear error of 3LSB (INL, typical) for digital output products.

     The isolation amplifier also achieves CMTI (common mode transient suppression) values of 20kV/μs (typical values), supporting stable operation of motor control applications that typically produce strong noise. In addition, the 5000V (minimum) isolation voltage makes them suitable for a variety of industrial equipment applications.
