IAR Systems extends IEC61508- and ISO26262 certification tools

     IAR Systems announced that its broad portfolio of certified development tools will also include Renesas' RZ microprocessors and R-IN32M3 and R-IN32M4 families. These additions complement the existing functional safety products in the RL78 and RX microcontroller families.

"This potentially expensive process includes proof of compliance with the tools used. By using pre-certified development tools from IAR Systems, companies can streamline the certification process, as well as save time and money, as well as protect their investment tools throughout the product lifecycle. "

     IAR's new version of the certified Embedded Workbench ARM will be available in the fourth quarter of 2015 and adds support for the RZ family of microprocessors, as well as the R-IN32M3 and R-IN32M4 series of industrial Ethernet controllers. Support covers the needs of the RZ/A ARMCortex-A9 main control board for high-performance human/machine interfaces for automotive, consumer electronics and industrial applications, as well as the industrial networking functions used in the ARM Cortex-R4 RZ/T1 Group, a factory with automation solution built in industrial control devices.

     IAR Systems' security offerings also include the Renesas Certified tool "RL78" and the RX microcontroller family. The RL78 microcontroller is designed for power sensitive applications, such as in automotive, medical, and smart energy connected devices. The RX microcontrollers are used in a wide range of applications including, for example, industrial, consumer and office automation.

     The International umbrella standard for Functional Safety IEC 61508, as well as the IAR Embedded Workbench ARM, RX and RL78 generation chains for automotive safety-related systems have been tested and approved in accordance with the requirements of the support tools above. The quality assurance measures applied by IAR Systems and included in the Safety manual allow application developers to use safety-related software development tools for each Safety Integrity level (SIL) without further tool qualification according to IEC 61508 and ISO 26262 for each Automotive Safety Integrity level (ASIL). For ARM, the certification also covers the European railway standard EN 50128. IAR Embedded Workbench is certified by TUV SUD.
