IDT's new wireless charging receiver enables faster charging with higher efficiency

     IDT has announced the launch of a new wireless charging receiver, the P9027, which features an ultra-compact form matter and enables faster charging. The magnetic induction receiver P9027 provides 80% peak system-level efficiency while improving overall thermal performance. Its efficient architecture enables higher power transfer rates, resulting in shorter charging times for portable devices such as smartphones and phablets.

     The P9027 supports the Wireless Power Consortium's Qi standard and is an 8W receiver with an ultra-compact solution size with a footprint of approximately 37mm2. The P9027 requires six fewer capacitors than competing products, resulting in a smaller board space and lower material costs.

     The P9027's proprietary alignment guide technology optimizes inductive coupling to the transmitter for maximum coil-to-coil power transfer efficiency. The device's adjustable output voltage range of 3V to 7V enables multiple downstream power management ics to be driven, while a proprietary foreign object detection (FOD) function ensures safe operation even in the presence of metal objects.
