Imagination announces the compact size of the high quality PowerVR Rogue graphics kernel

     Imagination Technologies has announced the launch of a new area-optimized PowerVR GPU that puts the full capabilities of OpenGL ES 3.0 into low-cost, space-constrained devices. Imagination customers planning to develop entry-level smartphones, screen equipped wearables and IoT devices (including smartwatches, appliances, connected radios), and screen dashboards for affordable cars and other vehicles can now leverage the industry's highest quality, most efficient Gpus to create stunning GUIs and user experiences.

     The new PowerVR G6020 GPU is designed to achieve graphics efficiency with a very small silicon area, resulting in better real-world device performance and compatibility without unnecessary overhead. It is the smallest member of the PowerVR Series6XE family, with four ALU cores and a silicon crystal area of just 2.2mm2(28 nm process, 400MHz). To achieve this, the G6020 features a highly optimized Unified Render Cluster (USC) engine specifically designed for UI experiences. This specially configured new USC provides the best combination of features in the smallest area and power budget, and is fully compatible with other Rogue USCs.

     The G6020 supports full OpenGL ES 3.0 functionality, is designed to provide a smooth user interface for high-definition display (720p@60fps), and has the best combination of features to meet the needs of the next generation of devices.
