Inertial module and ASIL B certification software library suitable for various automotive systems

     STMicroelectronics ASM330LHB gauge MEMS inertial sensor module is highly accurate and suitable for various automotive system functions. Equipped with special software, it can solve the design problems of ASIL Class B functional safety applications. The ASM330LHB meets the AEC-Q100 standard and is packaged in a 2.5mm x 3.0mm 14-pin VFLGA package.

     The module consists of a three-axis digital accelerometer and a three-axis digital gyroscope. It adopts a vehicle gauge design and provides six-channel synchronous output. Excellent inertial measurement accuracy can improve the positioning accuracy of the vehicle in the relevant environment. The module supports ADAS Advanced Driver Assistance System or Networking of Vehicles (V2X) communication, which helps maintain stable performance for critical sensing systems such as radar, Lidar, and vision camera to assist L2+ level semi-autonomous driving applications. In addition, the module can also be used for various body control functions.

     With the support of a software engine, the ASM330LHB meets the automotive industry's growing demand for automotive systems that meet Class B safety integrity requirements. A fail-safe redundancy mechanism is designed with two ASM330LHB sensor modules to quickly recover environmental-aware data for driver assistance systems such as lane keeping, emergency braking, cruise assist, and semi-autonomous driving. The ASIL B-level software library was developed in accordance with the automotive functional safety standard ISO 26262 and has been tested and certified by TUV SUD, an independent third-party certification body. The library ensures that vehicle systems meet ASIL B standards by implementing dedicated safety mechanisms, including data integrity and measurement accuracy.

With a nominal temperature range of -40°C to 105°C, the ASM330LHB has multiple operating modes that enable designers to optimize data update rates and power consumption.
