Infineon MA2304xN MERUS multistage switching amplifier

     Infineon's MA2304xN MERUS multistage switching amplifier. The MA2304xN MERUS series enables engineers to achieve excellent energy efficiency at both low and high output power, suitable for wireless and Bluetooth speakers, audio, and battery powered design for conference and multi-channel indoor sound systems.

     Infineon's new product line includes the MA2304DNS and MA2304PNS amplifiers. The MA2304DNS is a 2 x 37 W audio amplifier with fully integrated and configurable DSP (digital signal processing) and I2S/TDM (Time Division Multiplexing) audio interface. It uses MERUS multistage switched amplifier technology to achieve superior energy efficiency at both high and low output powers without a radiator or traditional LC filter. Multistage switching also reduces EMI (electromagnetic interference), enabling inductance free applications at a lower cost, while not compromising audio performance or efficiency. A high order internal feedback loop ensures low THD (total harmonic distortion) for a highly restorative sound effect.

     The MA2304PNS provides simpler volume controls and limiter for systems that do audio processing with application/connection processors. The MA2304PNS is ideal for battery powered speaker applications because of its ability to improve battery life and reduce battery costs. The MA2304PNS features an audio liminator and volume control, as well as ultra-low idle power consumption that consumes one-fifth of the power of a traditional Class D audio amplifier, and is ideal for multichannel applications powered by mains. Lower and adjustable EMI facilitates the design of these applications and eliminates the need for a radiator.

     Infineon MA2304DNS and MA2304PNS feature EVAL_AUDIO_MA2304DNS and EVAL_AUDIO_MA2304PNS evaluation boards. These evaluation boards allow users to demonstrate various features of the MERUS amplifier, including energy efficiency, audio performance and its adaptive power management system.
