As the automotive industry transitions to software-defined vehicles and new E/E architectures, there is an increasing demand for high-performance hardware and robust cybersecurity solutions. To address this need, Infineon Technologies AG, a global semiconductor leader in power systems and the Internet of Things, has partnered with automotive software provider ETAS to integrate the ESCRYPT CycurHSM 3.x automotive security software stack into the AURIX™ TC4X Cybersecurity Real-Time Module (CSRM). We want to increase the level of security, performance and functionality with this next-generation solution package.
Thomas Schneid, Senior Director of Software, Partnerships and Ecosystem Management at Infineon, said: "One of the great strengths of Infineon's AURIX™ products is the ability to deeply integrate our partners' software solutions. We are therefore excited to further deepen our partnership with ETAS to advance the development of software-defined vehicles."
Rohan Pandit, Product Manager, ETAS in-Vehicle Security, said: "We are delighted to start a new chapter in our long and successful partnership with Infineon. The latest version of ESCRYPT CycurHSM, when integrated with the AURIX™ family of microcontrollers, will enable software-defined vehicles to meet the growing performance demands with robust security."
The AURIX™ TC4x family is compliant with the latest ISO/SAE 21434 cybersecurity standard, a security design that addresses performance bottlenecks and supports post-quantum cryptography. The controller family includes a Network Security real-time module (CSRM) with dedicated memory and a Network Security Satellite (CSS). CSS provides a cryptographic service accelerator that can be executed in parallel with ESCRYPT CycurHSM 3.x, significantly increasing throughput.
In addition, thanks to virtualization support, the series can be configured with multiple virtual instances, so multiple applications can be run in parallel. ESCRYPT CycurHSM 3.x leverages this capability to enable flexible startup sequence and independent dynamic updates for each virtual instance. It enables fine-grained configuration of access control and assigns a separate ASIL level to each virtual instance, enabling a variety of different security applications.
