Infineon Technologies AG and Swoboda have partnered to develop and market advanced current sensor modules specifically designed for automotive applications. The collaboration combines Infineon's state-of-the-art current sensor integrated circuits (ics) with Swoboda's expertise in sensor module development and commercialization. The alliance is designed to cater to the rapidly growing market for sensing solutions for hybrid and electric vehicles. Working together, efficient current measurement solutions accelerate the time to market for high-volume products such as traction inverters and battery management systems. These solutions also benefit other important automotive applications.
The original product, Swoboda CSM510HP2, includes a fully enclosed current sensor module with a smaller size while maintaining high performance. The device uses the Infineon TLE4973 coreless current sensor IC for precise sensing with an overall error rate of less than 2%. The module has been specifically designed to integrate seamlessly with HybridPACK™Drive G2, Infineon's automotive power module for traction inverters for electric vehicles. This feature eliminates the need for a separate external current sensor, making it possible to create the most compact traction inverter on the market.
Swoboda says this new generation of current sensors sets a higher benchmark in terms of simplifying system integration. The combination of Infineon's cutting-edge sensor technology and Soboda's expertise in injection molding proved to be an ideal partnership.
Infineon Technologies says there is a need for high-performance, small and easily integrated sensing solutions. Integration into Infineon's HybridPack Drive G2 provides a highly compact solution for hybrid and electric vehicles, thanks to Infineon's superior current sensor ics and Swoboda's knowledge.
Infineon and Svoboda are currently working on the development of complementary current sensing systems to meet various types of power supply devices. Other targeted applications include inverter DC link and high-voltage battery management, among other possibilities.
