Infineon introduces 160 V dual-channel gate driver ics for battery-powered applications

     Infineon Technologies AG has announced the addition of its MOTIX™ family for automotive and industrial motor control applications. To further expand the lineup of this advanced product family, Infineon introduces the MOTIX dual-channel gate driver ics, including the 2ED2742S01G, 2ED2732S01G, 2ED2748S01G and 2ED2738S01G. These 160 V Silicon on Insulator (SOI) gate drivers are powerful and cost-effective small gate driver solutions with excellent latching resistance and are designed for battery-powered applications such as cordless power tools, multi-rotor aircraft, drones and light electric vehicles with battery voltages up to 120 V.

     Infineon's SOI technology has no parasitic diode structure, excellent robustness, and industry-leading resistance to negative transient voltage spikes on VS pins. These dual-channel gate drivers incorporate bootstrap diodes that power external high-side bootstrap capacitors, further reducing system-level BOM costs. These semiconductor devices are available in a compact 3 x 3 mm² VSON10 package and are available in half bridge (HB) and high side + low side (HS + LS) configurations and two different pull/fill currents to drive n-channel MOSFETs in a variety of applications.

     The pulling current of 2ED2732S01G and 2ED2742S01G is 1 A and the filling current is 2 A. The pull current of 2ED2738S01G and 2ED2748S01G is 4 A and the fill current is 8 A. The VCC and VB pins of all products have independent undervoltage locking (UVLO) function, and the half-bridge products also integrate breakdown protection (STP) function. In addition, the relevant JEDEC78/20/22 tests show that the MOTIX 160 V solution fully meets the requirements of industrial applications.
