
Infineon Technologies AG introduces a new product, XENSIVTM DPS368. This is a miniaturized digital pressure sensor that measures both temperature and pressure. With an ultra-high accuracy of ±2 cm and low power consumption, this product is ideal for precise measurements of altitude, airflow and body motion, making it ideal for mobile phones and wearables that support motion tracking and navigation. Not only that, it is also suitable for home appliances (for airflow regulation), drones (for flight stability), and medical devices (such as smart inhalers).
Thanks to its reliable package, the DPS368 can stay underwater for up to one hour (IPx8) at a depth of 50 meters and protect the sensing element from dust and moisture, which also makes it easier to handle the board on the assembly line. The 8-pin LGA package is only 2.0 x 2.5 x 1.1mm3 in size, saving 80% of space compared to other waterproof sensors.
Infineon air pressure sensors use capacitive air pressure sensor technology, which guarantees high precision measurements even when the temperature changes. The internal signal processor converts the output of the pressure and temperature sensor elements into 24-bit results. With the calibration factor stored in the sensor, the measurement results can be converted into highly accurate pressure and temperature values for related applications. With a measurement rate of up to 200 Hz and a fast readout speed, the DPS368 gives rapid feedback. In addition, the integrated FIFO storage can store up to 32 measurements, saving the power consumption of the entire system.
The XENSIV DPS368 sensor has an average power consumption of only 1.7μA for barometric measurements at a sampling rate of 1 Hz, and can even be reduced to 0.5μA in standby mode. The sensor operates at air pressure from 300 to 1200 hPa and temperatures from -40°C to +85 °C, with a temperature accuracy of ±0.5 °C. Sensor measurement data and calibration coefficients are available via serial I²C or SPI interfaces.
