Infineon introduces the TRENCHSTOP IGBT7 technology in the TO-247 package

     Following the introduction of the TRENCHSTOP IGBT7 technology in the EconoDUAL™3 and Easy package, Infineon Technologies is introducing the industry-leading TRENCHSTOP IGBT7 technology in the TO-247 package with a voltage of 650 V, based on a separate package. The new TRENCHSTOP product range consists of current grades 20 A, 30 A, 40 A, 50 A and 75 A. It can be used either to replace or in parallel with previous technologies. This version of IGBT7 is particularly suitable for applications such as industrial motor drives, power factor correction, photovoltaic power generation and uninterruptible power supplies.

     Thanks to the new micro-groove technology, the static loss of TRENCHSTOP IGBT7 chip is greatly reduced. At the same current level, the on-state voltage of TRENCHSTOP IGBT7 chip can be reduced by 10%. This results in a significant reduction in losses in applications, especially industrial drives that typically operate at medium switching frequencies. The IGBT T7 technology has a low saturation voltage (V CE(sat)) and an emittor-controlled seventh generation (EC7) diode that reduces forward voltage drop (V F) by 150 mV while also improving reverse recovery softness.

     TRENCHSTOP IGBT7 devices offer excellent controllability and excellent resistance to electromagnetic interference. It is easy to adjust to achieve the optimal dv/dt and switching loss specific to the application. The 650V TRENCHSTOP IGBT7 has the short-circuit resistance required for applications. In addition, it has also passed the JEDEC standard HV-H3TRB (high pressure, high humidity and high temperature reverse bias) test, proving that the device has good durability in the high humidity environment of common industrial applications.
