Infineon introduces the Traveo™ II family of body microcontrollers for a new generation of automotive electronics systems

     Powertrain electrification and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) are revolutionizing driving, increasing the richness and complexity of vehicle comfort and other body functions. In response to this challenge, Infineon Technologies AG has announced the launch of the Traveo II family of body microcontrollers for the entire market. The product range is suitable for a wide range of automotive applications, including body control modules, door, window, sunroof and seat control units, as well as in-car smartphone terminals and wireless charging units. The Traveo II series was developed by Cypress Semiconductor, which was previously acquired by Infineon Technologies AG.

     Peter Schaefer, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Infineon's Automotive microcontroller business, said: "The combination of Infineon and Cypress gives rise to the most comprehensive automotive microcontroller portfolio in the industry. Infineon's AURIX safety controller portfolio, combined with Cypress's Traveo and automotion-grade PSoC product family, enables us to offer more optimized solutions for all automotive applications, including body, instrumentation, infotainment, chassis, powertrain, driver assistance and domain controller applications."

     For body applications, Infineon offers a wide range of sensors and power semiconductors, including motor control solutions, intelligent power distribution and LED solutions. The Traveo II family of body microcontrollers further complements the existing portfolio to deliver the high performance, scalability, low power consumption and safety required for emerging automotive applications. "As an important part of Infineon's 'Product to system' strategy, Traveo II enables us to provide a comprehensive system solution for body applications," added Peter Schaefer.

     The multi-core Traveo II series is based on ARM® Cortex-M7 and -M4 cores and features up to 8MB of embedded flash memory, enabling devices to deliver superior performance for demanding body electronics applications. The product complies with the ASIL-B rating of the ISO26262 functional safety standard, ensuring safe operation of the equipment even at ambient temperatures up to 125°C.

     The Traveo II microcontroller features advanced peripherals that support CAN-FD, Ethernet, and FlexRay communication protocols, providing scalability and pin compatibility for all low-end and high-end devices. With low power consumption (down to 5µA) and higher security (EVITA-Full), this product family is ideal for today's smart connected cars. It also fully supports FOTA upgrades, allowing applications and security software to be updated remotely without interrupting service.

     The Traveo II microcontroller can be developed based on the AUTOSAR (Automotive Open System Architecture) 4.2 software. In addition, the rich ARM ecosystem tools and software on the market, including a variety of IDE tools and debuggers, as well as a variety of real-time operating systems are available.
