Infineon introduces the new EiceDRIVER™ 2EDL8 gate drive

     Infineon Technologies AG introduces the new EiceDRIVER™ 2EDL8 gate driver IC product family to meet the growing demand for mobile network infrastructure DC-DC telecom bricks. These two-channel junction isolated gate driver ics provide high power density, high efficiency and durability for isolated DC-DC buck converters/telecom bricks to help create a macro base for 5G and LTE telecom infrastructure.

     The new 2EDL8 series consists of four versions with two different pull-up currents and two different input configurations. The 3A (ampere) version is suitable for retrofitting designs, while the industry-leading 4A (ampere) version is designed to reduce MOSFET switch loss.

     The two channels of the 2EDL802x can operate independently, making it ideal for the primary diagonal drive full bridge and the secondary synchronous rectification stage to reduce freewheeling losses. The 2EDL812x features a differential input structure and built-in shoot-through protection, making it the perfect choice for non-diagonal drives of the primary side half-bridge stage in DC-DC brick converters.

     The 2EDL8 features an integrated 120V bootstrap diode and accurate channel-to-channel propagation delay matching (typical value ± 2 ns). All products in this family are available in industry-standard PG-VDSON-8 leadless package and pin output.
