Intelligent gateway platform for automotive gateway and domain controller applications

     STMicroelectronics Intelligent Gateway Platform (SGP) provides a very useful development tool for the prototype development of automotive intelligent gateway and domain controller applications. As automotive architectures increasingly integrate high-throughput on-board networks and high-data rate vehicle-cloud connectivity, the automotive market is increasingly demanding high-performance intelligent gateways and domain controller electronic control units (ECUs).

     Based on secure Gigabit Ethernet communication between the ASIL-B Telemaco3P microprocessor (MPU) and the ASIL-D SPC58/Chorus microcontroller (MCU), ST's Modular Intelligent Gateway Platform (SGP) has powerful processing capabilities. Firewalls, predictive maintenance, over-the-air firmware upgrade (OTA) capabilities, and high data rate communication between ECUs and vehicle clouds can be performed.

     The Chorus microcontroller's multiple CAN-FD interfaces provide low-power, real-time secure on-board connectivity, while the Telemaco3P MPU is based on dual-core Arm®Cortex®A7 processors and supports Posix OS operating systems, expanding the gateway's computing power. Embedded security modules can handle OTA over-the-air firmware updates, firewalls, and predictive maintenance functions.

     The SGP reference design features rich in-vehicle networking interfaces, including multiple Ethernet and CAN ports, and support for LIN and FlexRay connectivity technologies, with a resource-rich starter development kit that includes hardware design files, hardware and software development documentation, software utilities (drivers and updators), and routines.

     SGP also integrates an extended interface to connect Wi-Fi and LTE modules, which can be used to develop full use case prototypes with cloud connectivity simulation requirements. The modular architecture of the gateway is the best framework for the platform to easily scale computing performance, network connectivity and software processing.
