Yageo's leading global supplier of electronic components, KEMET, has announced progress in its FLEX SUPPRESSOR, an ultra-thin flexible noise SUPPRESSOR designed to reduce electromagnetic interference (EMI) and other noise interference. Both its EFG3 and FS families now operate in a wider frequency range (up to 40GHz band), improving FLEX SUPPRESSOR's performance in 5G connected devices and electronics for commercial, telecom and automotive applications.
FLEX SUPPRESSOR sheets are made with Kimi Electronics' innovative, proprietary EMI absorbing material, which helps prevent noise-induced damage, failure, and overall system failure. This flexible polymer material contains micrometer-scale magnetic metal sheets that absorb harmful radiation noise and convert it into heat. In digital TV, 5G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth devices, the EFG3 and FS series not only absorb radiated noise, but also protect against quasi-microwave range interference, electrostatic discharge, and sensitivity loss caused by noise sources (desense). Both series are best suited for portable connected devices and devices that require small size designs, including mobile phones, digital cameras and automotive infotainment systems.
FLEX SUPPRESSOR This flexible sheet can be cut into a variety of custom shapes for any design. In addition, the FLEX SUPPRESSOR can be supplied in the form of flexible strips that replace heavy ferrite cores to suppress noise, enabling a smarter and lighter cable design. This noise-cancelling strip is ideal for chargers, power supplies and interface cables used with commercial electronic devices such as mobile phones and tablets.
As the number, proximity and connectivity of electronic devices in use around the world continues to grow, noise suppression in electronic devices and systems has become a top priority for design engineers. According to Cisco's 2020 Annual Internet Report (2018-2023), the number of devices connected to IP networks will be more than three times the global population by 2023. In addition, a 2020 report by Technavio estimates that the global EMI shielding market will grow by $2 billion from 2020 to 2024, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.58%.
